Cockpit: Joe Lavery (EGFF, Wales) #1

Joe Lavery is a writer for PC Pilot magazine and he started his B737 home cockpit for an article and has since consumed more hours than he cares to admit. Since there are quite some photos, I have put them in three consecutive posts.  This next two will concentrate on the parts and components involved.

Builder: Joe Lavery
Location: Cardiff, Wales
ICAO: EGFF, Cardiff Airport

Project Notes:
I’m a writer for PC Pilot magazine.  The cockpit started life as a one of article and has since consumed more hours than I care to admit.

It runs under FSX as the main external display but uses Project Magenta as the overall controlling software. The majority of it is scratch built using panels from Engraviity, FDS and Open Cockpits.

I’m working on a new TQ at the moment that will be fully automated, so the auto throttle, speed brake and trim wheels will operate as they do in the real aircraft. At the moment the cockpit is not enclosed but that is on the agenda, I have most of the drawings prepared to construct a realistic shell for the components to sit in; it should make it a more immersive simulation.

To be continued…
