580: My Cockpit Rev #14 – Yoke Position Mod

After the FIP Adaptation mod yesterday, I found the protruding placement of the Alpha Yoke particularly eyesoring, since it is hard to cope with the other Saitek / Logitch panels as reported in my review for the yoke.

Of course, to those Alpha Yoke owners who don’t have any Logitech panel, it is not a problem at all.   But it is to me.   Here’s how how I got ride of this eyesore earlier this morning.  And it was pretty easy.

Just lift up the clamps and place it next to the bulges instead.  The base pad can then be pushed 1.5cm away from the table edge.

I tested the clamps under such simple lift-and-place changes are still strong enough to secure the base pad with the yoke and the 12-FIP stack on top of it.   However, I still choose to put some nano tapes (double-sided tape works too) between the clamps and the base for safety sake.

Now the bottom edge of the yoke is right at the same plane of the table.

If needed, the placement of the yoke can be further adjusted easily.
