Cockpit: Joe Lavery (EGFF, Wales) Update

Joe Lavery is one of the earliest friends who sent me home cockpit photos nearly eight years ago.  When he moved to a new home, he decided to install a proper shell that would make it more immersive while reassembling everything again.  Following are some images showing the current state of his cockpit being rebuilt and parts that he newly made.

Builder: Joe Lavery
Location: Cardiff, Wales
ICAO: EGFF, Cardiff Airport

Project Notes:
There has been significant changes to my cockpit. I decided when we moved home to install a proper shell that would make it more immersive.

This pandemic has in fact given me more time to get it finished and flying again.  Attached are a few images of the current state of play.

I’m replacing the TQ with one I’ve made, together with twin yokes and pedals.  Many of the amendments were produced with the help of my 3D printers.

I still need to install the overhead panels and set up all the software components, but I’m slowly getting there, and pleased with how it’s progressing.

I don’t think I’ll bother with the passenger seats although I may build the back walls each side of where the cockpit door would be.  That would also add another level of immersion.

I’ve attached a mock-up I did to see if I could make the parts. In fact there are so many new parts it’s difficult to realise until I start writing them down.

To keep me flying in the meantime, I built a little GA panel using mainly freeware gauges on an old 19″ monitor and some Go Flight radios.  The external view is a 32 inch 4K monitor.
