A flightsimmer fan posted a new thread on the P3D forum saying that he finally solves the micro-stutter issue on his system by disabling the “dynamic tick” feature in Windows. Good for him!
Actually the trick has been around for sometimes, and whether it effective or not, as usual, depends very much on one’s own system, as it didn’t make any difference on mine. Anyway, it’s still worth a try to see if it works on yours.
To use it, enter “bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes” under Command Prompt.
If you don’t like it, type in “bcdedit /deletevalue disabledynamictick” to remove it. Do remember to backup your system first, just in case.
When talking about system tuning, followings are some of the tweaks I’ve been using for a long time. And this time I am not going into details of any of them as there are tons of information on the Internet.
1) Disable Prefetching / Superfectch
2) Disable Windows search
3) Disable Cortana
4) Disable Drive Defragmentation especially with SSDs
5) Disable Game Bar / Game Capture
6) Disable Background Apps from running
7) Disallow files on drives (mainly the system and flightsim drives) to be indexed
8) Force Vertical Sync and Triple Buffering to ON under Nvidia Control Panel
9) Use High Performance Power Options and set 100% for Minimum/Maximum processor state
10) Set System Responsiveness to 10 (decimal) via regedit.exe at location
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile
With above tweaks (surely there are still other tunings), my i7-6850K, 1080-Ti, 65-inch TVx1, 49-inch TVx2 system in general sees stutters ONLY in denser urban areas (mainly on the two small displays). Probably that could be solved by adding another display card only.
