717: CPU Still Crucial in MSFS

Regarding the Graphics Settings of my two computers in the last Post, some friends asked what the specifications of my two PCs are and questioned if it is justified to compare them side by side since there aren’t much too difference in the comparison chart shown in the post.

Yes, interestingly, except a few items I set higher than the other, most of the settings between the two PCs are identical, even their looks under my desk.

My result contradicts to many reports which claim a huge improvements after the graphics cards are upgraded.

I really like to see that huge improvements, too.  But there isn’t.

Since the specs of my two PCs are very similar, I would interpret the result was due to the using of the same latest i9-11900K, which on the other hand suggests that CPUs still play a major role atop of graphics cards in MSFS just like FSX/P3D.

I thought about replacing my GTX 1080Ti with a RTX 3080 or RTX 3080Ti card not so long ago.  But the desire has been suppressed because the card’s current performance is quite satisfactory.  In addition, the price of the graphics cards are nearly doubled of what they were in the past due to chip shortages these days.

So, if you are planning on hardware upgrade, it shouldn’t be too mistakenly to put more share on the CPU and motherboard sides if you already have a not so low-end graphics card, I would say.
