Just upgraded one of my computers to Windows 11 today. I wouldn’t say it’s perfect. But I am impressed !
Frankly, I was a bit hesitated since I heard pros and cons from the Internet. So before the process, I backed up my whole system just in case something goes wrong.
Despite the Apple mac-like centered taskbar and new layout designs, all programs on my computer generally start a lot faster than what they are with Windows 10.
Both MSFS and X-Plane 11 start up a lot quicker. They run smoother with some frame-rate improvements, too. However, the program loading times are more or less the same…well…may be a little shorter but not significantly.
All my gears from RealSimGear, Logitech, Redbird, Honeycomb, Flight Velocity and Elgato function properly, or at least I haven’t found any issue from them yet.
The only problem on my system due to Windows 11 upgrade so far I encounter is I can’t access to the setting page of the Twonky server I am using for my music system even though it still runs normally. That issue, I believe, could be solved by changing corresponding security settings.Edit: Just found out the Twonky Server issue wasn’t caused by Windows 11. It was due to the network reset I had done before the upgrade.
True, there are still many things to finetune for my preferences. But I must say that I am really impressed by the new Windows.
Some tech users on the Internet said that the newer hardware your computer has, the more benefit you’ll get from the new OS.
I can’t proof the statement is true or not. But if you are interested to upgrade your system, do the followings:
– Backup your whole system first (VERY IMPORTANT);
– Download the Windows Installation Assistant from Microsoft to do the upgrade, instead of using the Windows Update option in Settings;
– Unplug all unnecessary accessories from the computer; &
– Turn off the anti-virus program, if possible.
Hope you’ll get the excitment I am having.
Good Luck !

Hi Tom, glad you are liking Windows 11, switched over to it on both my PC’s, no problems whatsoever so far, have a laptop too but its older and its hardware is not supported, we still have windows 10 support for another 4 years though and by that time I should have bought a new one.

I went to windows 11 almost the first day it was available but had to roll back as none of my Saitek / Logitech panels worked. The roll back to 10 only took about three minutes. Anyway I am now back on 11 but my Saitek FIPS remain blacked out and will not light up. Any ideas to a fix is welcome.

Sorry, David. I have no idea.
During the upgrade, I disconnected all FIPs from the system even though they are not turned off.
They come up normally after the upgrade.
Are you using the Logitech Plugin ?
Perhaps try uninstalling and reinstalling them again ?

Hi David,
Are you having the FIPs turned ON while Windows start up ?
Don’t do it.
You should ONLY turn them ON after Windows start up or right before your flight simulator.
Hope above solve your issue.
Tom
