After the recent MSFS update, the Ground Speed Display on my MSFS FIP gauges no longer works. There are 3 types of instrument affected:
– ASI Extended Versions of ALL aircraft
– Generic G5 HSI
– Generic G5 PFD
To fix the issue, one simply needs to change a command from
(A:GPS GROUND SPEED, knots) to (A:GPS GROUND SPEED) in the affected gauges.
Here’s how to do it:
1.)
If you are using the Logitech MSFS Plugins, go to
“C:\Program Files\Logitech\Microsoft Flight Simulator Plugin\FSX_Times_Gauges” directory;
or
If you are using SPAD.neXt, go to the directory where you store the FIP gauges;
2.)
Open the affected ASI file(s)
(e.g. MSFS_C172_ASI_R1E.xml, MSFS_C152_ASI_R1E.xml, etc) with an editor (notepad.exe);
3.
Search for (A:GPS GROUND SPEED, knots), and
4.
Change it to (A:GPS GROUND SPEED) by removing “, knots” from the command;
5.
Repeat Step 3 & 4 until all (A:GPS GROUND SPEED, knots) have been changed to
(A:GPS GROUND SPEED);
Actually, users may press [Ctrl]-[H] to activate the Search-and-Replace function to carry out the changes automatically as well;
6.
There are 6 incidents of such changes in total in the ASI files;
and 8 incidients in the G5 HSI and PFD files;
7.
When finish, save the file and quit. The Ground Speed Display will function again.
The editing process above is pretty straightforward. However, should any user need some help, feel free to contact me.
