Was excited to installed the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 this morning and played with it for nearly the whole afternoon. My comment: it’s full of bugs and needs a lot of improvements, in short, it is not ready at all.

The product is just like the fuselage of the G58 captured in the game. It’s full of dents which requires a lot of works to iron them out.

Hahaha! Full of dents and requires a lot of work is exactly right! This was a rushed broken game pushed to release as a money to just make a quick profit. Every game developer does this now so why not Asobo/MS? And the thing is as society we have come to accept this and just live with it. Constantly making excuses for these developer predatory behaviors as “just first day/week/month challenges” when in reality they had enough time to fix the game. Or should have given it more time.
Also I believe Microsoft no longer cares about the flight sim community and are now targeting the more profitable and larger xbox gamer community. FS2024 now is just another rushed broken release like many other games out there. I predict we see a popularity surge for xp12 or even maybe P3D making a come back here because the flight sim community is not the target audience for this anymore.

Exactly. Just like many things we only paid once and now we need to pay subscriptions.
Probably Asobo and MS heard from P3D that people don’t like to pay for update, so they change the product name from 2020 to 2024. ;)

I agree, not a great launch and there are definitely issues but I am slowly working my way through them and working around them. For me the load times are not much better than 2020, the graphics are not much better than 2020 ( for now maybe while the server loads even themselves out) but the flight dynamics and handling ( and dare i say it, the smoothness ) are much improved.
My biggest complaint is with the head/eye tracking which was broken in the alpha and is still not functioning. If that can’t be fixed quickly then i’ll be going back to 2020.

In deed. Just like 2020, it took a few months to come steady. I guess 2024 will take similar timeframes for two, three updates.
Graphics-wise, the scenery looks pretty good but as a whole not as good as 2020, like you said. Probably due to the new ATMOS thing, it gives a blurry feel. I in particularly don’t like it. 2020 is much better.
Flight Dynamics and handling are good. But there are incompatibilities with peripherals, at least in my case, which impair my first impression with it.
For example, I can’t taxi the plane smoothly; I couldn’t map the Avionics Buttons on the Alpha Yoke; and whenever I brake the plane on the ground, it locks the plane and I have to push full throttle or push park-brake combos twice to unlock it. I have not figured out the cause yet.
I think it takes at least a couple of months with at least 1 to 2 updates and clarifications to allow plugins and peripherals to be able to use properly.

Will you let us know when, in your opinion, the new Sim is ready?
