469: My Latest Nvidia Setting

Thanks to all who shares their ideas about adjusting refresh rate to reduce micro-stutters in my last Post.  Frankly speaking, I didn’t really pay any attention to adjust it until recently.

And after a second thought, although I said the trick doesn’t have any effect on my rig, I think it could still be a candidate solution to those who have the issue.

For those who are interested, following is the Nvidia Settings (under native 60Hz refresh rate) I’ve been using in the last few months. Continue reading

468: A Probable Micro-stuttering Cure

Micro-stuttering is one of the most severe headaches to almost all flightsimmers and it is not easy to cure.   If have a 4K monitor or a 4K TV, you may try cutting its refresh-rate from 60Hz to 30Hz.

I didn’t invent the trick.   I was told by a friend, who found the trick on the Internet.   Probably some of you knew it or even tried it already.

Is it a panacea or just another placebo?   Continue reading

467: Logitech Driver 8.0.144.0 has Error

While working on a fix to address the differences in filenames between the old Saitek drivers and the new Logitech drivers for the installer program of my gauges yesterday, I found the latest FSX and Prepar3D Plug-in on Logitech website simply has error itself.Again, as suggested in my earlier Post 447, DO NOT update your already working Saitek drivers to the Logitech ones for the moment.   If you already did or if you are new Saitek Gear users after the acquisition, at least do not use this 8.0.144.0 version.  The earlier 8.0.132.0 version is fine.

This erroneous version was released in September Continue reading

466: Generic G5 HSI Released

When the generic G5 style PFD was released in April this year, I was saying that a matching G5 style HSI was being planned (actually was being built) to go with it.   However, the project was given ways to many other instrument over the months.  Until now, it has finally completed.

Doesn’t like the G5 PFD which in some ways has been customized to be used on specific aircraft, the generic G5 HSI can generally fit on all aircraft that run on standard FS commands as its name suggests.

Besides working best in pair with the generic PFD, it is also a good replacement to the basic Directional Gyro when used alone.

Current users of the Generic G5 PFD, Continue reading

465: CFG Spacer Utility

I always add an empty line between each section in the fsx.CFG and Prepar3D.cfg so that their contents can be easily read.  It is in particular helpful when doing a search.   Here’s the CFG_Spacer utility that I recently wrote to speed up the task.

The utility is good for FSX, FSX-SE and Prepar3D, and can be downloaded from Continue reading

464: B737 MFD & EICAS Released

The B737 MFD (Multi-Function Display) and EICAS (Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System) are now ready.   Probably don’t need explanations from me about what they are.

Just one thing to note about the MFD: NO waypoints and airports will be shown on the display due to limitations of the Flight Instrument Panel (FIP) itself.  However, all other features found on the expanded and circular models are virtually implemented.

Current users of the B737 PFD could contact me for a 20% off discount if interested in these two gauges.  Others please visit my store.

My next project Continue reading

463: B737 PFD Released

The B737 PFD has just been released.   It is so far the most complicated FIP gauge I’ve ever made, even with the experience I had from the Garmin G5 PFD.

Those who purchased it should have the download link in their mailboxes by now.  For the MFD and EICAS I showed in the previous post, they should be ready in the next few days.   Continue reading

462: B737 PFD Photo Preview

The bug checking and fine-tuning for the B737 PFD (Primary Flight Display) is completed.   Following is a photo (click to enlarge) of it with the coming EICAS (Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System) and MFD (Multi-Function Display) sitting next to it.
I feel excited too and the PFD should be ready by end of the week as scheduled. Continue reading
