Dear all,
Please note that due to the summer heat, my broken down graphics card and cockpit rebuilding in progress, my response to emails and comments in these two months may be slow.

373: My First Impression of Flying VR
Virtual Reality (VR) is no doubt the hottest topic among game developers and players these days. Last Sunday, I spent a few hours playing FSX-SE with FlyInside on my son’s HTC Vive setup using the “long-deserted” Eclipse Yoke digged up from my storage.
Wow…was my immediate response after entering my first fight over the Friday Harbor in FSX-SE, while I was physically sitting in my son’s living room with the huge VR goggle putting on my face. Continue reading
369: Aerofly is Good but Be Careful
Recently purchased the Aerofly FS 2 on Steam. It is amazing in graphic rendition and outstanding in aero-dynamic and physic performance.
On the good side, it proves itself to be one of the directions where the future flight simulator should be heading. On the bad side, unfortunately, there is still a big room for improvements before it can turn itself from a niche product to a real competitor to FSX, Prepar3D or X-Plane.
Even worst, my GTX Titan card Continue reading

359: The Cause of My PC’s Death
Although there are still some fine-tunings to do, my computer is in general up and running again after a few days’ reinstallation and updating.
Over the rehabilitation process, I had a chance to tidy up my system a bit and get rid of many useless stuffs from my SSDs. I guess it is one of the good things I get from the broken computer.
Like many others, I have Multicore Next and P3D Fiber Accelerator from FSPS (Flight Simulator Platform Solutions), which I occasionally use for testings and other purposes. During a recent search for Continue reading
358: A New Blog worth Following
I’ve been (still am) focusing a lot on developing new gauges for FIPs in the past 12 months, which inevitably reduces my already limited time on exploring new fun to add to flight simulation. A friend, probably he doesn’t want to be named here, has created a pretty nice blog — On The Glideslope — that in a way supplements what I’ve missed.
He says, “You can learn an awful lot from the people who have come before you.” Actually, it’s also true to learn from others who come after you as well. We, individually, are too small to cover all aspects in the flightsim world.

323: Don’t be Fooled
Received quite a lot of spam mails regarding a self-claimed award winning and most realistic flight simulation on the market recently. Did a search and found that this ProFlightSimulator is actually a rebrand of an open-source flight simulator developed by FlightGear. The guys just copied and markets the free product for $197 (discounted to $97). Unbelievable!
Here’s the statement regarding the scam by FlightGear. Most sadly, there’s nothing the developer can do about it under the Open Source GNU GPL v2 protocol. So be careful and don’t be Santa in this way.
