834: C208B EIS Released

The Engine Indication System (EIS) for the C208B EX Grand Caravan has been completed and it is the second product in the MSFS_C208B_EIS_JPG_resizeEIS series under development.

Feature-wise, it has included all the essential components from the original panel on the aircraft and works as is designed.

However, due to FIP limitations, adding the Maximum Cruise Torque Bug to the Torque Indicator is not possible.  Similarly, Redline Warnings for Torque performance, likewise, is only available under 4,000 feet.

Nevertheless, the green bar and red line of the Torque indicator will still be dynamically changing according to aircraft altitude up to 24,000 feet. Continue reading

833: C172-G1000 EIS Released

The Engine Indication System (EIS) for the C172-G1000 is now ready.  It is the first of MSFS_C172_EIS_JPG_resizea series of similar EIS being developed for different aircraft.

Existing owners of the C172-G1000 3-Gauge Pack and C172-G1000 with G5 Combo Set could contact me for a 25 and 50% discount off respectively.  The offer is valid thru to the end of the year.

Here’s the link to the FIP store Continue reading

832: Comanche EDM Updated

The EDM gauge for the A2A Comanche PA24-250 has been updated to R1r01.

In addition to some minor bugs fixed, the Manifold Pressure (MAP) and RPM digital numbers were also repositioned for better display.

Download Link have to sent to all users and they should be in their mailboxes by now.  If not, Continue reading

831: C172-G1000 EIS Preview

Here’s a video preview of the coming Engine Indication System (EIS) for the C172-G1000 to be released soon.  It can also seamlessly replace the Engine Cluster on the C172 Classic version, especially when flying with the Generic G5 Gauges.

At present, all layout, structure and programming are completed, except a few more features to be tuned and decided.

This C172-G1000 EIS is the first Continue reading

830: A Quick Guide to RNAV Approach

Since the story “808: VORs are Now RNAV Compatible” was posted in March, once in a while I received enquiries from friends who asked me for instructions to run RNAV Approach.  I used to reply them by emails individually.  But I think it does no harm to write up a short post for those who might be interested.

RNAV (Area Navigation) is an aviation method that allows an aircraft to fly along any desired flight path defined by waypoints under GPS operation instead of navaids.

Here’s a quick guide about setting up the RNAV Approach from 5WA8 to KHQM as demonstrated in the Post mentioned above:

1.
Open WORLD MAP and choose to fly the Cessna 172 from 5WA8 (Hogan’s Corner) to KHQM (Bowerman)

828: Heading Bug Issue on Just Flight Arrows

Two days ago, Brian in the US reported to me that the “Heading Bug” on the HSI gauge developed for Just Flight’s Arrow III, Turbo Arrow III and Arrow IV is malfunctioning.

The “Heading Bug” doesn’t change accordingly when the “Heading Bug Knob” is turned. It only works when the autopilot is engaged with a flight plan and an activated approach. If the flight plan or the approach is removed, the “Heading Bug” will stop working instantly. The faulty situation applies to the HDG gauge as well.

I then checked and confirmed the case is valid, but Continue reading

827: Comanche EDM 830 is Available Now

After a few weeks delay, the EDM 830 (Engine Data Management 830), the last piece of the A2A Comanche PA24-250 FIP gauge set has completed at last.

The gauge is by far the most complicated FIP instrument I ever developed. It has over 3,600 programming lines with many intricated conditions, which I probably wouldn’t rememberMSFS_PA24_EDM_GIFS of what they are in a few months.

Yet, this FIP version is not a full replica to the one on the A2A aircraft.

In addition to differences in horizontal and vertical layouts, some features of the EDM 830 on the A2A aircraft are simply unable to implement onto FIPs due to hardware and software limitations.  In some cases, I gotta use unconventional approaches to achieve what it presents.

Nevertheless, Continue reading

826: Loading Time Issue in Swiss after SU13

After recent sim update 13, all my session loading time to any airport in Switzerland was untolerably long.  I tested to find out that it could take up to 20 mins.  Under such circumstances, I had no choice but to break MSFS from running.

Earlier today I noted that Taburet had released an update to “fix the loading issue” of its “Switzerland Austria Roads”.  It gave me a cue that the loading time issue I’d been facing could be caused by the “Switzerland Austria Waterflow 2” enhancement from the company as well.

Without much hesitation, the addon was disabled and bingo.  The issue was gone.

Hope there will be an update to fix the issue of the Waterflow addon soon.

825: Bowerman (KHQM) is Back

The freeware Bowerman Airport (KHQM) from Orbx was my “home” base during FSX and P3D simulation times.  It was missing in MSFS until vbazillio who revived it a few days ago.  It’s pretty well-done and I don’t see any anomaly from it.
KHQM_resizeFor those who love this airport could download the addon from here.

A big thank to vbazillio.

BTW, Continue reading
