844: Running FIPs after Switching to XP-12

Since Logitech doesn’t have a specific FIP plugins for X-Plane 12, from time to time I receive inquires from friends asking how to run FIPs after switching to the new platform.

It’s simple.  Just copy the “XSaitekProFlight” folder from X-Plane 11’s plugins directory into X-Plane 12’s plugins directory. That will do.

843: EIS for X-Plane C172SP-G1000 Released

Here’s the X-Plane version of the EIS (Engine Indication System) developed for the C172SP-G1000 per some friends requests.XPL_C172SP_EIS_GIFS

Feature-wise, it functions identically to the one developed for MSFS.  Its appearance, however, is fully revised according to the G1000 on the C172SP in X-Plane.

Similarly, it is a good supplement when flying the C172SP-G1000 or the C172SP with the FIP Generic G5 Gauges. Continue reading

798: My XP11 Gauges are XP12 Ready

At start of 2023, I finally installed XP12 to my system.  Performance-wise, the new simulator performs nicely on my i9-11900K system with 64GB RAM and nVidia 3080Ti graphic card.

Most importantly, I am glad to confirm that my FIP Gauges developed for XP11 are fully functional in XP12 as long as the aircraft can be run in XP12.  (Thanks to many friends who reported that to me earlier.)XP12However, Continue reading

645: Auto-Slew G5 HSI in X-Plane

A user of my XPL G5 gauges recently sent me a note saying that the CDI instruments found in the C172 do not automatically turn to the GPS desired course by default.  But we can make a little change to “activate” the G5 HSI to auto-slew to the front course.

Here’s how to do it:

Open the Cessna_172SP.acf with a text editor in the “\X-Plane 11\Aircraft\Laminar Research\Cessna 172SP” folder.

In the file, search for Continue reading

578: No More Fuel-Flow Issue on XPL Gauges

Regarding the fuel-flow reading errors caused by Logitech’s X-Plane plugin on Flight Instrument Panel (FIP) reported in Post 505, I am so happy to announce that the nasty issue has been finally solved for good, no need to beg for help from Logitech any more.

In light of some addons I came across:  since the Logitech plugin fails to read the “fuel_flow_kg_sec” dataref properly, I popped up an idea that I could probably create something else to substitute the erratic function to read the fuel-flow values correctly. Continue reading

549: Updated FIP Plugin for X-Plane

Just found out Logitech’s X-Plane Plugin for FIPs has been updated to version 8.0.213.0.    According to the support page, the new version has included additional Cessna gauges (similar to those offered in FSX/P3D Drivers) plus updates to the rotary dial behavior in gauges.

Not sure what “updates to the rotary dial behavior” means but the new version works fine on my system without any issue so far.

Sadly, the fuel-flow issues I reported more than a year ago in Post 505 and 509  are still not addressed.

535: Garmin G5 for XP-11 Video Preview

Following is a video showing the current status of the Garmin G5 gauges being developed for X-Plane. The ATT and HSI from the XPL B58 in the middle are used for comparison.

The G5 gauges on the FIPs (Flight Instrument Panels) look pretty nice as they closely resemble the real one in terms of physical dimensions. Continue reading
