627: MSFS-Compatible Gauges Clarification

After reporting that my existing FSX/P3D Gauges can be run with the new Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) via Logitech’s MSFS plugin, or the latest FSUIPC, or SPAD.neXt in the last few Posts, I received some emails asking for more details and clarifications about this MSFS-compatibility and my plan on MSFS specific gauges.

Here’s the reply to those who are interested:

It’s a confirm that my FSX/P3D gauges can be run in MSFS.

However, since most of these FSX/P3D gauges are originally developed for specific aircraft in FSX/P3D, their styles and layouts might have differences from those instruments on the same or similar aircraft in MSFS.  As a result, some features on the FSX/P3D gauges might not perform exactly the same in MSFS as in FSX/P3D.

For example, the rotation speed settings of the tachometer on the C152s and C172s in MSFS are very different from the C152s and C172s in FSX/P3D.   The miniature aircraft of the turn coordinator on MSFS aircraft also reacts a little differently from those in FSX/P3D, too.

Of course, there are also gauges in the existing FSX/P3D line fully matching the styles, layouts and features of similar gauges in MSFS, for example the new Cessna Shared CMP v2 (more to be checked).

These gauges will have a remark of FSX/P3D & MSFS or For FSX/P3D & MSFS in their descriptions and details information pages.

But again, the other FSX/P3D gauges, even without the MSFS marking, can still be run in MSFS, except that there might be some differences in styles, layouts and features, if one doesn’t mind when using them.

At the moment, a number of MSFS-specific gauges are being developed or have been planned.

More details about them will come in the next few days.  There will be special discounts given to existing users of my gauges and other early-birds.

  1. Hi Tom,
Short question: do you consider providing a digital clock for the Cessna 172 ( top left instrument), and a ball compass?
    Thanks!

    1. Hi Casper,
I thought about making a digital clock before but given up the idea for some reasons. Sorry no.
Ball compass, on my list but no sure when.
      Tom
