In the past weekend, Lukas, a friend who was experiencing similar MSFS installation issue I had had two months ago asked me how I had the issue solved in the end. I told him I really had no idea since I didn’t do anything but just waited for about a month to get the app with the update patch again. The issue was solved by itself, probably due to the new updates, or something else.
He replied he wouldn’t want to wait and asked if there were any suggestions.

Hm…after some thoughts…I recalled Michael Basler in Germany once recommended me to get the simulator via Steam instead of the Microsoft Shop. So I passed the suggestion to Lukas.
On Sunday morning, Lukas happily told me that the MSFS installation via Steam worked like a charm. He got refund from Microsoft Shop, too.
That’s great.
I then tested purchasing MSFS for my other computer which had problems installing MSFS thru MS Shop before. The installation was smooth without any issue.
Thanks Michael. I should have listened to you earlier so that I hadn’t had to waste a few days on updating and reinstalling the app many times and then spent another four weeks waiting for the update in order to be able to reinstall the app again. Thanks Lukas, too.
Actually, the reason I hesitated not to get MSFS via Steam in the first place because I wouldn’t want to run the simulator on top of a game platform. But after installing it, I realized that XBox Live is also a game platform.
The MSFS doesn’t run as a standalone program like FSX, P3D or X-Plane.
So, if any of you are not yet an MSFS player but are planning to get the app soon, I would recommend you to get the app via Steam instead of the Microsoft Shop. That might save you a lot of troubles. That is true in my case.
Your mileage may vary, however.

Dear Tom,
As per Michael and your recommendation; after a month of frustration from MS and XBOX store, I decided to try again on Steam. It worked like a charm and now I’m a happy flyer.
Thanks

Glad to hear that, Emre. The file structure of MSFS is a lot simpler and straight-forward. Really don’t know why MS Store has to make it so complicated under its own brandname.
