On this rainy day, I finally got the ButtKicker for my sim cockpit.
I had been inclined to the wireless model in the first place. But after comparing the two models and my environment, I decided to get the wired Gamer 2 in the end.
Probably I won’t have time to install it until the weekend. Moreover, during my search, many simmers recommend to add in extra software, such as SimVibe, SimShaker or SimHub, to get the best from the device, instead of just plugging it in and play. Any suggestions?

Hi Tom,
Just to echo what Ty said, I’ve been using SimShaker ‘For Aviators’ and a Buttkicker with P3D, X-Plane and MSFS for couple of years and have had good experiences in all three sims. It definitely increases the level of immersion. The developer (Andre) is great about providing support if you have any difficulty getting things set up. You will want to make sure that your sound card meets the minimum specifications (I use a dedicated USB card).

Thanks very much, Steven.
Sound card minimum requirements !? Never thought about it. Good advice and will check accordingly.

Hi Tom
Joining in the discussion here, have same Buttkicker unit here fitted to my Flight sim chair too, but have not really got round to using it properly yet (apart from testing it works OK) so will be following this thread in what you do closely, thanks :)
Some pics of my chair with Buttkicker for us to see.
I have left room on left side of chair for forthcoming Virpil Helicopter Collective controller, chair has own powered USB Hub and so far its all working extremely well and very very comfortable.
Hope images work OK, might need to copy paste.

Hi Tom, I don’t know about the extra software (I will be interested to see what others say) but in my enclosed Spitfire cockpit I had to fit a cooling fan to stop the ButtKicker from overheating when it has a high workload.

I have a fan under my desk to cool me in the Summer. Now it has another use.
Thanks for the note Mike.

I definitely recommend Simshaker. I have been using it since getting my buttkicker and instantly notice when it is not running. I have tried some other options which worked but the two i tried did not provide consistent vibration. It was as if the vibration was on a loop and it would pause for a brief period ( less than a second but noticeable) and then start again like it was on a loop track. No such issues with SimShaker.
