452: New Legacy Airspeed Indicator

The Airspeed Indicator for the Lancair Legacy from RealAir Simulations is now available from the FIP Gauge Store.

Although there are still no engine gauges specifically developed (or planned) for the aircraft yet, Legacy pilots should be able to compose an operable cockpit with most of the key instrument from the ASI and the MULTI Shared Gauges under the RealAir category now.

451: Hidden Tachometer on A2A C172R

This morning I received an email from Paul Wasserman who asked me why the red line on my A2A C172R tachometer is set at 2,400 rpm, rather than 2,700 rpm as shown on his cockpit.   Looking at his photo, I was bewildered because I had never seen the gauge before; and it was the first time someone reported to me about this inconsistency.

In order to confirm that there were nothing I had missed, I re-downloaded, re-installed and re-updated the aircraft in the following hours.   “Without luck”, the result was the same — the red line is still at 2,400 rpm.   I really had my head scratched. Continue reading

447: FIPs for P3Dv4 and New Drivers

Received a number of inquiries recently from friends who asked for advises why their FIPs (Flight Instrument Panels) no longer work after upgrading to P3Dv4.

Causes are in general similar — the exe.xml and/or the DLL.XML are missing.   Because these two files don’t come with the simulator nor created by the Saitek drivers by default.  Moreover, the latest FSUIPC5 is also a prerequisite.

Fixes are simple: Continue reading

446: Cessna Fuel Gauge Now with Back Light

The Integrated Fuel Gauges (INTFG) for the default C172SP and A2A C172R and C182T have just been updated to version R5 and R2 respectively.   They are the second group of Cessna gauges now enhanced with back-light effect, following the earlier Wet Compass.

Actually, in order to make the back-light effect right, I have taken far more time and effort than I expected in the first place.   The new updates are the result of numerous attempts and many days of work.

Therefore, I wouldn’t be able to give any estimated date when the next one will come nor what gauge or gauges it or they will be for the moment; however, there will be updates for sure, which I can promise. Continue reading

442: B737 Backup Altimeter with AS Indicator

Here’s the Backup Altimeter with Airspeed Indicator developed for the B737.   It is the third in the B737 gauge series and it comes with the back light effect.

Explanation of its altimeter and airspeed features is not necessary, I believe.

Although the gauge is customized for the B737, I found it’s fun to include it to some other gauge setups as well, as it contains two of the core six instrument.

To serve this purpose better, I will include an extra black-panel version in future update.   Anyone interested in this gauge could click on the image above or click here for order information.

441: Cessna Wet Compass with Back Light

Here’s the updated Cessna Wet Compass implemented with back-light effect after the B737 gauges.

The feature applies to both the default and A2A models, but not the X-Plane one as it uses a different set of codes. Continue reading

434: I am now P3Dv4

I just ordered P3Dv4 tonight.  I didn’t plan to get it now because my new rig hasn’t been set up properly.  But I have no choice because more and more friends are asking the compatibility status of my gauges with the new version.   Although some users reported to me that my gauges on their system function as usual, I still need to ensure that myself that they are truly in good shape.

The program interface, though improves a bit, is still not my cup of tea.

Started up the program after installation and my first response Continue reading

433: B737 Wet Compass & Flaps Indicator

From time to time I receive emails about the availability of FIP gauges for bigger airplanes.   The B737 wet compass and flaps indicator, in particular, are two instrument mostly inquired.   So here they are.

Different from my previous attempts, these two truly implement the panel light effect on the gauges.  And they look particularly appealing in a dim environment. Continue reading

431: DHC2 Beaver Gauges Released

Received a number of friends who report to me that my gauges function properly as usual under the new P3Dv4.   So happy to hear that because I, myself, still haven’t purchased the 64-bit version yet.   Thank you all.

Speaking about gauges, just finished a new set for the DHC2 Beaver.   Although it is no way comparable to Beaverpilot’s full-scale Beaver Simulator, the instrument still provide good fun to those FIP users who enjoy float-planes flying.

To complete the instrument set, Continue reading
