711: M20R Engine Gauges Now Get Straight

The original layouts I developed for the Carenado M20R Ovation Engine Gauges were based on a stack usage, allowing one to be placed on top of the other. However, from time to time, I couldn’t help thinking the single-row design on the M20R is nice too.

So here comes the extension set using the single-row design at last.  MSFS_M20R_ENG_DUAL

710: Four More B58 Gauges Get Updated

Following the RMI update released last week, the ALT, ATT, HSI and VSI of the default B58 (not the Carenado version) in FSX/P3D have also been updated to version R4r04, allowing users to install them into MSFS environment as well.

Similarly, except the new installer, functions of the gauges remain the same. Continue reading

709: A Fix to my RSG Interface not loading

One thing that frustrated me for quite some time was the RealSimGear Device Interface wouldn’t load up with MSFS automatically.

After the Interface was installed, I moved the whole package out from the MSFS\Community folder to the \Addons\Utility\RealSimGear folder on the same drive in my system, so that it could be activated via MSFS Addon Linkers.

Then I edited the Path of the Device Interface Module accordingly in the exe.xml file as follows:

<Launch.Addon>
    <Name>RealSimGear Add-on</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <Path>F:\Addons\Utility\RealSimGear\bin\RealSimGear.exe</Path>
</Launch.Addon>

The path was correctly pointing to the RealSimGear.exe but the Device Interface simply wouldn’t load with MSFS.

I had been scratching my head for quite some time why the setting wouldn’t work until today Continue reading

708: My Cockpit Rev #31 – ButtKicker Gamer 2

On this rainy day, I finally got the ButtKicker for my sim cockpit.

I had been inclined to the wireless model in the first place.   But after comparing the two models and my environment, I decided to get the wired Gamer 2 in the end.ButtKickerProbably I won’t have time to install it until the weekend.  Moreover, Continue reading

707: B58 RMI Gauge Gets Slimmer

The RMI Gauge for the default B58 in FSX/P3D has been updated to version R4r04, which can be installed into MSFS environment.

Other than the new installation option, the changes is mainly cosmetic, making it slimmer.  Function-wise, it is the same.

Although the original version looks more closely to the one in the virtual cockpit on the default B58, the new version has better proportions as a whole, which looks prettier to my eyes.

Therefore, Continue reading

706: Trim Wheel Pro Friction Mod

Earlier today, I received an email from Nicolas Bouesnard in France who acknowledges he has the same flaws on his Flight Velocity Trim Wheel Pro as I reviewed mine in Post 701.

Instead of leaving them as they are, he applied some mods to the unit and now he gets friction while turning the wheel.

Nicolas said: Continue reading

705: Free Iceland Mesh

In case you are not aware, Orbx has just released a free Iceland Mesh which is compatible with the new World Update 5 for Nordics.
Iceland Mesh
The description says the mesh is 100% self-contained with virtually no noticeable performance impact and changes made to the default contents.

Glad to find this enhancement since the Nordics update, not sure if you agree or not, seems a bit below the standard of what the previous updates offered.

704: VelocityOne Flight Control System

Just came across this VelocityOne Flight Universal Control System for Xbox Series and Windows 10 from Turtle Beach.  Sorry, never heard of the company before.  I am really not a game enthusiast.VelocityOneThe product looks pretty cyber and arcade game feel. Continue reading
